The London Learning Disability Basketball League is a platform for those with disabilities to train and compete in basketball, with the aim to build self-confidence, and enhance the abilities of those who participate. We are inclusive, and everyone of all abilities are welcome and encouraged to take part in our activities
Often our society overlooks people with learning disabilities, however, we believe that people with disabilities contribute greatly to our society. This includes their contribution to competitive sport such as Basketball.
People with disabilities are more than able to join sport activities and often enjoy the challenge. We empower those with disabilities to get involved in our activities through our annual Basketball Camps and London Learning Disability Basketball League. We hope to encourage wider community engagement in competitive disability sport and break through societal stereotypes and barriers.
Mental Health Benefits: Through our camps, we encourage the improvement of self-confidence resulting in a reduction of anxiety and depression. Our members have enhanced social skills and we want all participants to feel a part of a team and community which creates a friendly, and positive can-do environment for everyone.
Physical Health Benefits: Playing basketball reduces obesity. Basketball camp provides a good opportunity to encourage participants to develop healthier life habits.
We pride ourselves on being a place where people are recognised for their strengths and abilities. Our Coaches and staff are interested in developing basketball skills and providing holistic support, whether it be by providing information on healthy lifestyle choices, or by being a source of motivation and encouragement towards a healthier mentality towards challenges.
